PRAMS AND STROLLERS - NEW CONSUMER LAWS - AUSTRALIAN COMPETITION & CONSUMER COMMISSION A new mandatory product safety standard for prams and strollers recently took effect (1 July 2008). The new standard draws on critical safety features of the Australian/New Zealand Standard for prams and strollers, and was developed following tragic incidents where children have been killed or injured when their strollers rolled away from carers. All products must now comply with a series of construction, performance and labelling requirements. In particular the mandatory standard requires that a pram or stroller be provided with:
* a tether strap to help consumers retain control of the product This information has been collated from material available on the ACCC website and supplied by Go Again Kids for general information to our customers. It should not be used as the basis for making decisions on pram or stroller safety, and for more information you should visit the ACCC website here . Taking all of the above into consideration, Go Again Kids will no longer be purchasing prams for sale (or of course offering prams for sale) that do not meet the new mandatory product safety standard and it will be up to sellers to provide all of the required information when offering the pram for sale. After consultation with ACCC we decided to give away free of charge all prams in stock, on the basis that they did not meet the new standards, that they may never be sold in the future and that they were given away on an "as is where is" basis. This offer was very enthusiastically taken up and all prams have now gone.
